French Burger with Brie

You also crave for a tasty hamburger meal sometimes? Well this is the recipe for you if you love the richness and great flavours France has to offer you! Onions, mushrooms, French cheese and to top it off; a delicious egg and a Dijon mustard sauce..

We personally love the tastes of the French cuisine, most French recipes are made with a rich flavour which you can not find anywhere else in the world, and of course all the cheeses that they have to offer. Brie, Camembert, Roquefort, Comté; all special and very different flavours that fill up our mouths with water thinking about them. It’s no wonder all these cheeses are summarized as a delicacy called “French Cheeses”!

We chose to go with a brie cheese from the French dairy brand ‘Président’, which is a very common brie here in Europe. It’s easily obtainable and of course one of the better tasting brie cheeses in the normal supermarket. It was a lot of fun to make it and we hope you will enjoy this recipe as much as we do!

French Burger with Brie

  • 2 hamburger buns (*)
  • 2 vegetarian burgers (we used the Beyond Burger from Beyond Meat®, but any burger you enjoy, vegetarian or meat, should do!)
  • Toppings:
  • 2 fried eggs
  • 1 tsp of butter
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 tbsp of white wine
  • 4 big chestnut mushrooms
  • 6 slices of brie cheese (we used Président® brie)
  • a few leaves of salad
  • Dijon Mustard Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp of mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp of Dijon mustard
  • ground black pepper



We will start with our preparations. Slice the onion in half rings, slice the mushrooms in thin parts.


Sauté the onions in the butter in a frying pan, until they become soft and get a dark brown color. Once done, you remove the onions and put them apart. Leave the remnants of the butter and onion juices in the pan and add 2 tablespoons of white wine. Add your sliced mushrooms in the pan and continue to fry untill the mushrooms get a nice light brown color.


Remove the mushrooms from the pan, give it a quick wipe to clean the pan and start frying the burgers and eggs.


While the burgers are frying, add 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard and some ground black pepper in a small bowl and whisk until everything is well combined and you have a smooth looking sauce.


Cut 6 big slices of Brie cheese and put them on top of the burgers in the pan to let it melt a bit.


Assemble the burger with all ingredients and pile your toppings, and enjoy your delicious french burger!
